About Us

The Family Crisis Centre is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation that works for the community to defend rights and to provide charitable needs and relief from financial hardship.

The goal is to empower society by giving them knowledge and access to justice, enabling them to start to depend on themself using their courage. This concept relies heavily on the provision of repeated help.

The objective of empowering people needs to be further explored, so The Family Crisis Centre came up with this unique concept which gives society the power and the knowledge, to encourage them to try to connect the dots and build confidence and preserve their integrity.

Activities

The Family Crisis Centre supports survivors of domestic abuse and their families by recognising individual needs, raising awareness of issues such as domestic violence and family legislation, and ensuring people understand their rights.

We also run free legal advice surgeries with solicitors, counsellors, and social workers offering pro bono guidance delivered both in person and remotely to help those in crisis access justice and support.

Above and Beyond

The Family Crisis Centre has been supporting communities in North West London since 2014, initially through personal volunteering and informal networks. During this time, the Centre assisted a wide range of individuals from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds, many of whom were unable to navigate their challenges alone.

Free advice sessions were offered to identify each person’s needs, with cases then processed and represented in court by professionals acting pro bono through relationships built by the Centre. These experiences highlighted that long-term impact required more than immediate support.

Through reflection, the Centre recognised the importance of empowering people with information and knowledge so they could take ownership of their wellbeing and actively participate in solving their families’ problems an approach that continues to shape its work today
